Mind is blown...

This little gem just might be the most amazing form of creative expression any of us will ever see in our lives...  my hat is off to this man and my mind is completely blown from trying to comprehend how much time and energy went into making this... devote the next 10 minutes of your life to watching this...

NZ: Christmas Hike, Mt Fyffe, Kaikoura

Christmas was great! I didn't see one damn Christmas tree, no twinkling lights, no tacky tinsel, no paper wrapped presents or ribbons or bows, no stockings, no shitty music, no stars, no angels, no bells, no nativity scenes, no Santas, nothing... it was awsome! But I did see this...

Tonga: Swimming with Humpbacks

Well this was most definitely a highlight of my time here... getting to swim within a few feet of mom and calve Humpbacks. Pretty unreal! They are EVERYWHERE around here at the moment, you'd have a tough time getting on a boat at any given time and not seeing a whale... or a few of them. I would highly recommend getting here at some point in life and jumping in with them, it's one thing to see them from the surface and a completely different thing to see them in their world. Mindblowing.

Erik Abel on Current TV

Stoked to be included as one of the artists interviewed for Current TV! Brandon Bloch came down to the Ripple event in DC while I was setting up and took some video... he also picked up a painting, thanks buddy! The video came out great despite the fact that I speak in a boring monotone voice the entire time, what a dork. I encourage you to leave a comment on the Current TV site about the video. Be nice.

RIPPLE Event Video & Pics

The Ripple event went off!! June 20th was International Surfing Day and a big crowd made it out to Art Whino Gallery at the National Harbor. Almost $6,000.00 was raised for the DC Surfrider Chapter to help with a new water quality program in the area. Check out a little video from the event...

Thanks to all the sponsors and everybody who helped make this event a success!
Part of my installation...I actually brought a bag of rocks from the Oregon coast on the airplane so I could stick them on the wall, it came out pretty rad...Live painting I did on Saturday...Me with Mr. Art Whino himself, Shane Pomajambo...The Okoto kids, Joe and Amy came down from NJ (what a barrel of fun they are!), and that's Julie from Surfrider DC who happened to bust her arse for this event...
O Susannah of Art Whino, this girl works her ass off too...The silent auction had some great items...Good shot from artist James Walker...These last few pics pretty much sum up the rest of Saturday night, who knew a case of Twin Fin wine and a grassy knoll could be so much fun? ...

You can check out all my work from the show HERE and if you're interested, contact Art Whino to see what's still available.

"Pacifico" Video

Here's a short little time lapse video of a recently commissioned piece titled "Pacifico".
NOTE: I had "Paint it Black" from The Rolling Stones for the soundtrack but apparently it was copyright infringement and You Tube made me select one of their shitty copyright-free tracks. Lame.
